Love language with Kidslingo
Kidslingo is about inspiring children to learn languages in a fun and interactive way, with an engaging mix of music, games, actions, role-play, drama and storytelling. I believe in making language learning exciting for all ages and the classes are a brilliant way to boost a child’s confidence, as well as their linguistic development in both English and Spanish.
A bit about me…
Hola todos! My name is Jen and I’m a passionate linguist and fluent Spanish speaker. I spent my childhood growing up in the buzzing metropolis of Mexico City and have a BA Honours Degree in Spanish and Italian Studies with an oral distinction in both languages. I have previously taught both primary and secondary school children in Mexico, Italy and the UK.
Speaking Spanish opens up so many doors both personally and professionally as it is spoken throughout Spain, within 19 countries in Latin America and 20% of the United States is Spanish speaking. Speaking languages has enabled me to live and work abroad, establish life-long international friendships and explore the globe for my career, giving me a taste for travel and tacos! I love passing the gift of language onto the children I teach – one minute we are on the hunt for dinosaurs in the jungle and the next we are colourful superheroes flying through the air!
The benefits of learning a language at an early age
A recent study has found that children must start learning a second language before the age of ten if they hope to become fluent. This language study is the largest of its kind and was conducted by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston College on a sample of nearly 700,000 language learners. During this study it was established that there is a ‘critical period’ up to the age of 18 where the brain is most receptive. To read the full article click here

Kidslingo has launched a competition for budding young linguists to design their own French or Spanish lesson. The aim is to inspire creative thinking and engage the children in the educational development process of Kidslingo’s fun curriculum.
Finally, after months of preparation and anticipation at Kidslingo, we are so excited to now be back in many community venues, nurseries and schools in England with our fun French and Spanish classes, with Scotland and Wales following suit very soon.
